This Week

This week was quite busy and included a quick trip to Florida to visit family! I got one last taste of warm weather (and short sleeves!) before returning to NC where I am currently bundled in a fuzzy blanket. Luckily, I've been feeling ready for cooler weather for quite a while now. (That is subject to change once we're a few weeks into winter)

 Crunchy leaves...

A campfire (complete with s'mores, of course)

A tiny owl who wanted to join in on the fun.

Birds (herons, I think) on the beach. The water was too cold for me, but the weather was perfect for a nap on the sand!

 A beautifully camouflaged butterfly.

Can you spot the manatee?

Happy weekend! Hope you had a wonderful week!

This Week (Halloween!)

We did Twin Peaks for Halloween: Agent Cooper + the log lady

Toasted baguette with dark chocolate, sea salt, and olive oil.

This guy wanted to help us paint.

Dog sitting for this pretty pup.

A beautiful Autumn walk at the lake.

Amazing pumpkin, butternut squash, and coconut curry at Vimala's (which I'm determined  to recreate at home!)

Fall colors in downtown Chapel Hill.

Hope you're having a wonderful Halloween weekend!

This Week

I'm back in North Carolina! This week consisted of...

Lazy cats...
Lots of rain (I love it!)...
This little lap dog (at my sister's house)...
And New York style cheesecake made from this amazing recipe! (since both Jake and I had birthdays this week!) I was a bit disappointed that it cracked despite my following the recipe's instructions to prevent it. Anyone have any tips?

Hope your week is off to a wonderful start! I've got some fun Autumn DIY projects coming up so stay tuned!

Seeing Red

A few red things I've spotted lately (part of an ongoing photography series)...
Looking back photos of fireworks from the 4th of July...
Cheesesteaks at 99 miles to Philly (the sign looks a bit orangey
here but looked much more red in real life)...

...And a red flower in a bed of purple ones at The Cloisters.

Seeing Lilac

Flowers in the garden...

This Essie nail polish...

...And a 3-strand necklace from here.

Wanderlust

Arequipa, Peru
Happy Friday! I've been daydreaming about traveling a lot lately and this video reignited my wanderlust. What a cool way to document your travels! I don't have any plans to travel internationally right now but if I could, my top three places would probably be:

1. Iceland
2. SE Asia- Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia
3. Greece

...but really I'd jump at the chance to go just about anywhere!

Dalian, China
County Kerry, Ireland
Have you traveled anywhere fun lately? What's your favorite trip you've ever been on? I'm always looking for new places to add to my list!

Rainy Days

We had some crazy thunderstorms yesterday! It hadn't rained that hard in a long time. So, of course, I had to get out my camera and capture a few photos with different shutter speeds. I just love the rain. Hope you have a great weekend, rain or shine!

Happy First Day of Spring!

Finally Spring is here! This winter felt like it would never end. Hopefully you're experiencing some lovely, sunny weather right now, but if not, here are some Spring photos from past years to remind you that warm days are just around the corner!
